Coping with anxiety

Are you struggling to cope with the feelings of anxiety? Do you wake up in the morning with a feeling of panic? What may feel as quite small can trigger you and you may feel that you can't cope with anything?

Does this sound like you?

The important thing to remember is that you are not alone, and that anxiety is a perfectly natural emotion. If we are going for a job interview, we may feel anxious and nervous. However that doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with us, we're nervous because we want something, its an opportunity, a new beginning and that's both scary and exciting.

Sometimes a constant experience of anxiety can feel that it is taking over our life and we need help to deal with this. If this is you, you are in the right place.

Top tips to deal with anxiety:

  • Start to do some meditation and mindfulness, you can download balance or headspace on an app that will talk you through guided meditation

  • Start journaling, either by writing down your feelings or using an online journal. Getting your thoughts onto paper can massively lift that weight of anxiety

  • Do some exercise, but something you enjoy, not something that feels like a chore. It could be evening walks, swimming, dancing

  • Deep breathing- take extra deep breaths in slowly. If we calm our body down it helps to calm our mind down as these are very much linked

Try some of these tips to see how it makes you feel.
