Pathway To Wellness
Anxiety, OCD, Self Esteem and Confidence Counselling
Anxiety is a natural emotion, and one we all experience in life. However sometimes it can become a bit too overwhelming. You may experience anxiety when you wake up, which can bring about sensations such as sweating, palpitations, intense worry. You may feel unable to leave the house or go to work. Sometimes this can develop into feelings of panic, which can feel really scary.

My approach of Person-Centred Counselling with Mindful Cognitive Therapies allows us to focus on being in the present and using meditation and mindfulness to help cope with these emotions. I will structure activities to work on this anxiety and provide you with coping mechanisms, as well as exploring where these uncomfortable feelings stem from.

Deep breathing can massively impact the anxiety and panic and help to calm both the body and the mind down by focusing on your breath.

I provide specialist support in working with OCD behaviours, and use a therapy called Exposure and Prevention Therapy to work on these anxieties. I understand from a personal level about how it can feel to experience obsessive and intrusive thoughts. It can make you feel like you are not normal, and you may come up with rituals to suppress these anxieties. However, this will only work temporarily and then it will resurface.

This can feel like being a prisoner in your own mind and have a constant need and want to escape. The positive thing is that EPT really works and can help you escape this negative pattern of thinking. We will work on a hierarchy of fears and slowly and safely confront these in a supportive space. I have supported people with all different forms of OCD such as health anxiety and perfectionism. You deserve to be able to escape these intrusive thoughts, I am here to help you with that.

Self Esteem and Confidence- I support a lot of people with self esteem and confidence issues. This may be due to experiencing anxiety, not feeling comfortable or confident in yourself. Sometimes we can go through difficult life experiences which can negatively impact our confidence and self-esteem. Grief and loss can have a significant impact on our confidence, a relationship breakdown, a redundancy. You may have experienced trauma either as a child or an adult which has deeply affected you.

However, there is absolutely hope to see yourself in a different and more positive light. We will look at the reasons for the lack of confidence and self-esteem, structure activities for confidence building. Look at your strengths and use positivity and mindfulness to improve how you see yourself so that you can walk in any room and know and celebrate who you are.
